This week’s challenge is Rare.
All Indonesian people celebrate their Independence Day every 17th of August with many fun sporty games. In my neighborhood, the competitions not only happen during the D Day, but also from one week before until one week later. And two weeks later we will have a special ceremonial day to announce the winners and celebrate the happiness with live music and bazaar.
Here are the games we have:
- Futsal
- Volley Ball
- Badminton
- Chess
- Kids Quiz Contest
- Put Eels in a Bottle Contest
- Bring marble on spoon
- Walking on Bamboo Stilts (egrang)
- Eating Hanging Snacks (hands free)
- Sack race
- Tug of war
- Healthy environment competition
- Pillow Fight on Swimming Pool
- Coloring for kids
Here are some collections of rare pictures of events for the sake of this week’s challenge.

How interesting! In Finland Independence Day is quite a solemn affair, no sports in sight 😛

Ow.. Talking history, Netherlands colonized and ruled our country for about 3.5 centuries, and Japan for about 3.5 years. So we want to remember our heroes and to teach young kids that independence is not free and very expensive. Indonesian people also love to socialize and having fun like this since the sport usually not expensive and everybody can join the fun or simply watching from a distance.
Thank you for your comment Suvi, hopefully I can visit you someday in Finland, the country with best education in the world.
Should you ever visit Jakarta / Indonesia, let me know, I would love to accompany you enjoying our country. 🙏😊
